<p>The development for Cbus Property will reinvigorate the Hoddle Grid by replacing various existing buildings with a 55-storey office tower comprising approximately 60,000sqm of premium commercial space across 48 levels, along with 1,300sqm of retail space in a multi-level ground plane that integrates the building into the surrounding network of streets and lanes.</p>
<p>The design considers embodied and operational carbon through all elements of the design, from materials and construction systems to form, sunshading and solar response. The tower employs Australia’s first solar skin façade, generating over 20% of the building’s energy requirements while protecting the interior from the sun through innovative bifacial solar ’leaves’ that are a tangible demonstration of the building’s response to climate. At the lower levels, the biophilic response takes the form of an evolving series of masonry sunshades that provide a contemporary connection to the heritage streetscapes, and a human scaled texture that creates a warm and inviting experience at street level.</p>

<p>The design for the new Embassy of Australia stands as both an integral civic space and an enduring symbol of Australia. The design honours the legacy of its predecessor built on the very same site and continues the special relationship between allies, partners and friends.</p>
<p>Located at the heart of the U.S. capital, the embassy remains contextually respectful of Capitol Hill’s predominant architectural style, completing Scott Circle and addressing the street axes to 16th Street and the White House and Massachusetts Avenue, commonly referred to as Embassy Row. The design acknowledges the site&#8217;s transition from the predominantly residential urban realm to the north and the more commercial to the south.</p>
<p>The building’s transparency manifests the inherent Australian values of welcomeness and trust, while the interior’s expansive atmosphere is representative of the vastness of the Australian landscape, evoking a sense of something greater than ourselves, carved out through the enormity of time.</p>

<p>At the heart of the building, a large atrium serves as an organising and orientating space displaying a powerful connection between the ground and the sky. This central atrium gives rise to an axial arrangement of representational spaces where every visitor is granted an equally immersive experience. A key element of the design is the staff hub – a series of breakout spaces vertically linked by a feature stair within the controlled access zone, encouraging staff to move easily between departments and social spaces. Open and equitable workspaces with ample daylighting promotes a calm and ordered atmosphere. The U-shaped plan and side core arrangement ensure efficient floorplates, allowing departments to adapt to changing requirements.</p>
<p>Acting as the threshold to the formal and ceremonial areas, a waiting room celebrates Australian furniture designers and First Nations artists with an arrangement of bespoke furniture and speciality rugs.</p>
<p>The display of Australian artworks emphasise the nation’s artistic excellence, rich indigenous heritage, and depict stories of vibrant diaspora communities. The selection and commissioning process for the works was guided by the Australian Government&#8217;s cultural policy pillars of supporting artists, creating a space for diverse voices, prioritising First Nations representation, and ensuring a meaningful and engaging experience for all visitors.</p>

<p>Specialty rugs based on First Nations artworks define a series of key spaces, creating an inviting space for cultural exchange. Through close collaboration with Aboriginal artists and their representatives, a unique design process involving the artists, interior designers and rug manufacturers captured the unique essence of each selected artwork, which was translated into captivating hand-tufted wool rug designs.</p>
<p>The building’s interiors are complemented by selected furniture showcasing leading Australian artists, designers and manufacturers. Incorporating both contemporary and historically significant designs, such as the re-interpretations of iconic Robin Boyd designs, the furniture selection celebrates the essence of Australian design. Crafted using sustainable materials and finishes, the pieces embody a future-forward aesthetic and informality.</p>

<p>Occupying a 1,300sqm footprint, the site maintains several street frontages at Spring Street and Throssell lanes. The broadest expanse faces east towards Treasury and Fitzroy Gardens, guaranteeing a lifetime of uninterrupted parkland views.</p>
<p>The 33-storey tower is contextually responsive to the surrounding buildings, while becoming a distinguished landmark on Melbourne’s grandest street. Its elegant stature is expressed as two vertical forms, providing depth and substance with a balanced harmony. The building’s off-white masonry façade panels create a framed gridded appearance that steps back as the building ascends.</p>

<p>The podium of 17 Spring Street features a series of transitional heights and a distinct finer grained welcoming treatment. Entry is deliberately grand, defined by monolithic stone portals and fine metalwork. The ceremonial-like arrival is enhanced by a porte-cochère experience unique to the Melbourne city grid. The stature and personality of the cosmic black marble columns make a monumental statement, while the patterned metalwork of the pressed bronze canopy ceiling adds visual warmth, lustre and materiality complimented by the carefully crafted and uplit sculptural window frames.</p>

<p>Inside, a series of impressive portal frames lined with exquisite marble present a formal invitation into an environment where residents and guests experience serene spaces featuring carefully curated sculpture, decorative objet d’art, contemporary chandeliers and antique hanging tapestries complimented by the finest of bespoke and imported furniture pieces. Refined detailing is displayed throughout the interior and exterior spaces; bespoke tapware, hand crafted door hardware and custom monogramed signage completes the tableau.</p>

<p>The residential building encompasses 73 meticulously appointed two-bedroom, three-bedroom, half-floor and whole-floor apartments. Light-filled apartments with floor-to-ceiling windows and large balconies provide generous natural outdoor extensions to dining and living areas, while providing crossflow ventilation.</p>
<p>A choice of schemes and finishes with materials including natural stone, timber parquet flooring and textured carpets achieve a sense of richness and layering with a carefully considered minimal palette.</p>
<p>Facilities are akin to luxury hotels with exclusive amenities located on level 2 including an extraordinary 25-metre lap pool and gymnasium overlooking Spring Street and the gardens. On level 3, a residents lounge, private dining room, and wine cellar with tasting room opens to a landscaped terrace and barbecue facility for outdoor entertainment completing this residential sanctuary.</p>

<p>LIV Munro is the first stage of the broader Munro development, incorporating community spaces, hotel, affordable housing, city library and activated laneways. Sited within the Munro precinct delivered by PDG in collaboration with the City of Melbourne, the residential tower is designed by Bates Smart architects for Mirvac.</p>
<p>Fundamentally of the market, the LIV Munro tower draws on the energy and vitality of the area’s heritage architecture and fine-grained spaces. The brick and concrete detailing of the podium respects the traditional language of the market shopfronts, while active frontages along the façade act in dialogue with public spaces. Multiple pedestrian linkages are also introduced throughout the site.</p>
<p>The hotel-occupied podium’s double lobby adds a complimentary ground level activation to the apartment tower and works in partnership with the Six Degrees community hub to create a sympathetic, human scaled and textured interface.</p>
<p>The tower’s cylindrical form is conceived as a building in the round at the intersection of the Hoddle and Northern grids. Perceived at all sides, LIV Munro stands out amongst its rectilinear neighbours and the lower scale of the market.</p>

<p>Featuring 490 apartments designed exclusively for renters, a mix of housing stock and amenities appeal to a range of demographics. These generously proportioned residences with warm, neutral tones suit a variety of household configurations and allow tenants to add their own sense of style and décor to the design.</p>
<p>The building is fully accessible to residents, with a premium rooftop terrace offering views over the market and Flagstaff Gardens. Shared amenity includes cinemas, games room and dining, as well as a health and wellness centre, co-working facility and even a professional quality recording studio. The building’s dedication to communal spaces, including adjoining garden terraces and dog park at the top of the podium foster a strong community sentiment. A connection to nature is emphasised by integrated landscaping on every level and a green spine which defines the building.</p>

Designed for Time &amp; Place, and positioned to connect with the Domain precinct, it establishes a refined, village-style address that celebrates its parkland and civic context.</h3>

<p>Two towers are sculpted to optimise natural light, ventilation and privacy. A subtle shift in orientation gives each tower a distinct identity, with three sides forming a soft, curving shell and the fourth expressed as the primary façade. Floor-to-ceiling glazing frames long, diagonal view lines across the gardens, Shrine and city, ensuring landmark vistas remain accessible. The sculpted metal façades reinterpret St Kilda Road’s mid-century modern heritage, softening the towers’ profile and integrating them seamlessly with their historic and urban surroundings.</p>

<h3>The landmark building and flexible workplace represents a significant opportunity to engage with the unique civic culture and rich built heritage of Melbourne’s most celebrated precinct.</h3>


<p>The proposal replaces the existing office building at 60 Collins Street with a 39-level, 65,000sqm building, including 40,000sqm of net lettable area. The Dexus project includes the retention and refurbishment of Melville House at 52 Collins Street, a significant piece of Melbourne’s heritage fabric. The new tower is entirely set back from Melville House to allow it to be appreciated as a standalone building.</p>
<p>Situated on the most renowned corner of Collins Street, the development seeks to extend the public realm and enliven the pulse of the city through its pedestrian-friendly streetscape. A new through-block connection to McGraths Lane establishes a link between Collins and Little Collins streets via a generous and activated lobby. Nearby amenities and premium retail spaces along the laneway and streetscape serve building occupants, guests and the public.</p>


<p>The architectural expression of the podium at pedestrian level continues the rhythm, materiality and scale established by its heritage-listed neighbours. The tower’s high-performance triple glazed curtain wall façade is designed to be both highly transparent and insulative. Multiple void opportunities allow for the creation of vertical villages, while terraces at various levels provide access to fresh air and outdoor space. Internally, connected floorplates and a flexible workplace environment support a high level of interaction amongst teams.</p>
<p>60 Collins Street will be an exemplar of sustainable design. Key measures include a 6 star Green Star rating, 5.5 star NABERS rating, a 20% reduction in embodied carbon and a 30% reduction in energy use when compared with other existing commercial buildings.</p>

<h3>The site’s extended frontage provides the address with a robust masonry response related in scale, proportion and materiality to the neighbouring The Herald and Weekly Times building and the Hotel Lindrum.</h3>


<p>The tower form is conceived as a ‘vertical warehouse’ with the building’s frame expressed as a material skin which mediates between the all glass tower of 8 Exhibition Street and the Harry Seidler designed office building at 1 Spring Street. This frame and its solidity allows the sculptural form of the tower to be read from all angles.</p>
<p>The proposed building fronting Flinders Lane references the scale, proportion and materiality of this context. The red brick façade is conceived of as an extension of this warehouse context.</p>

<p>It is anticipated that the primary entry for this project will be via the Flinders Lane building due to its proximity to Parliament Station. As such the ground level entry to the Flinders Lane building is wide and inviting. A direct link to the main lobby on the Flinders Street side of the site is provided via a bridge which spans over Spark Lane. On the western edge of the site a wide stair provides access from Flinders Lane down to Spark Lane.</p>

<p>The Frankston Hospital Redevelopment represents the Victorian Government’s largest ever health infrastructure investment in Melbourne’s south-east, with plans for it to become a world-class public hospital and new benchmark of care for Peninsula Health.</p>
<p>The comprehensive scope of work includes architectural, interiors and masterplanning components that address the fundamental challenge of unlocking the site and connecting its existing assets to new buildings, while embedding flexibility to allow for future expansion.</p>


<p>The architectural design of the new facility’s 12-storey tower and podium form part of a composition of elements that respond to the adjacent parklands and local coastal context of the peninsula with its massing, rusticated façade, palette of natural materials and landscaped interventions. A new main entrance is also crowned by a generous sculptural verandah that evokes the coastal setting.</p>
<p>The masterplan balances site constraints and unifies the campus by linking the extensive green spaces, defining the new entrance, integrating the facility with the existing hospital and delivering a canopied ‘hospital street’ to seamlessly connect east and west.</p>
<p>Plans will further transform the hospital by delivering an additional 130 beds, 15 new operating theatres, new spaces for mental health and oncology services, as well as expanded women’s and children’s services. The addition of new wards and points of care will increase capacity to treat approximately 35,000 more patients each year.</p>

<p>The hospital offers a tranquil and caring environment for staff, patients and visitors through the integration of architecture, landscaping, health planning, evidence-based design and artwork by local Bendigo artists.</p>
<p>Inspired by Bendigo’s architectural vernacular and natural environment, the design considers the building and landscape as an integrated whole in a holistic approach to healthcare. The built form reaches out into the garden setting, while the landscape is drawn in to create internal sanctuaries.</p>
<p>A rooftop garden and native trees within the hospital entrance enhance the biophilic ethos of the building, while the increased reflectivity of the building’s glass façade reflects the surrounding natural landscape.</p>

<h3>The vison for an iconic tropical hotel embodies the rich natural and cultural heritage of Darwin.</h3>


<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Situated on the waterfront, the hotel makes an important connection between the city and the water, enhancing the precinct and acting as a gateway to the natural wonders of the Northern Territory.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The design began with a study of the geographic story of the site, the historic context and the requirements of the climate. The building’s curved form references the layered histories of the waterfront.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The lower levels are inspired by the nearby rock formations and capture the spirit of the local landscape through the use of natural stone, complemented with lush landscaping and water features. Areas for rest and reflection are aided by verandas and breeze ways which respond to the tropical environment, but also reference the heritage buildings within Darwin. The upper levels of the hotel are inspired by tree canopies. Dark metal and timber screens create dappled patterns of light, but also provide valuable shading for the humid temperature.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Whether arriving by sea or land, varied outlooks and impressive views allows guests to experience and behold the dramatic skies and shifting weather patterns of Darwin. Importantly, the design incorporates a seawall which is designed to protect the hotel from significant weather events and cyclonic wave activity, but that at the same time provides a generous pedestrian path and access to the waterfront for the local community.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">By providing a connection to place the hotel allows guests to partake in an atmosphere of tropical luxury. Situated within a garden setting, the restaurant and bar provides patrons with an authentic Northern Territory dining experience. In addition, an iconic rooftop garden provides additional restaurant facilities and can be accessed via a skywalk from Goyder Park. A memorable infinity pool with an unforgettable outlook over the waterfront is also situated on the roof of the hotel. In addition, a diverse range of function and conference facilities provides the people of Darwin with new spaces for events.</span></p>
