Rivière: a subtropical urban retreat

Rivière

A subtropical urban retreat

Introducing Rivière, a unique residential building in Brisbane that celebrates its distinct clifftop site, harnesses the local subtropical climate and maximises views over Kangaroo Point.

Designed for Aria Property Group, and integrating Bates Smart’s architecture and interior design, Rivière’s distinctive sawtooth form references the striking and angular faceted shapes of the nearby cliffs. Inside, the amenity areas balance elegance and warmth and work with the landscape, designed by RPS Group, to create an urban retreat.

Rivière combines subtropical architecture with a commitment to sustainability, community and liveability. The architecture scales down to 124 apartments, all of which are planned to maximise spatial efficiency and views. Each apartment entry has a perforated metal screen that encourages residents to leave their front doors open, promoting community and also cross ventilation through apartments and breezeway corridors.

The building’s facade is expressed with board-marked concrete, glazed brick accents and breeze block sunscreens that allow sliding windows and doors to fully retract for ventilation. Resort-style amenities include a pool, spa, gym, residents lounge and dining room on the rooftop, and at ground level a cinema room, cellar and a spacious lobby.
