Richmond Sports Gateway

A vision for Richmond station

We need some new ideas in the discourse around what the future of Melbourne could be.

Julian Anderson

Director, Bates Smart

Richmond Station is long overdue a major upgrade that will elevate its status as the premier gateway to Melbourne’s world-renowned Sports Precinct.

Positioned at the heart of one of the most significant and successful sports and entertainment hubs globally, the new Richmond Station will provide an enhanced experience for the millions of visitors who pass through its doors each year.

This visionary project offers further potential by unlocking development opportunities. Our proposal includes building 500 homes across five new residential towers and a 150-room hotel, funded in part by selling the 1700-square-metre parcel of state-owned land next to the station.

Richmond can become a model for sustainable urban renewal, integrating much-needed housing without compromising the character of the local environment.
