A vision for Richmond station

Richmond Sportslink

Richmond Sportslink envisions transforming Richmond Station into a vibrant gateway for Australia’s premier sporting precinct while delivering much-needed housing.

The development strategy rests on three pillars:

1. Land Transfer
Selling state-owned land parcels to generate funds for the project’s public-realm improvements.

2. Public Benefit
Reinvesting proceeds to deliver high-value amenities at minimal cost to the state, including a new pedestrian link to the MCG, a replacement station roof, upgraded station entries, and the potential creation of a retail laneway.

3. Strategic Height Uplift
Allowing towers to exceed existing zoning limits—aligned with the Premier’s housing statement—in return for developer contributions, yielding around 500 new homes.

Together, these strategies balance residential growth, urban design excellence, and enhanced public infrastructure to create a new Sports Gateway for Melbourne.
