From CBD site to civic neighbourhood
City East Adelaide
We collaborated with the Government of South Australia, the City of Adelaide, Junction and Unity Housing to shape the City East Masterplan – a major mixed-use vision for an 8,000sqm site between Pirie and Flinders Streets in Adelaide.
Our vision transforms the CBD site into a vibrant mixed-use neighbourhood for Adelaide, bringing together a hotel, office space and 700 apartments, including 200 affordable homes.
Conceived as one of Adelaide’s largest mixed-use developments, the masterplan comprises three towers ranging from 31 to 39 storeys, enabled by recent planning code amendments permitting heights up to 40 storeys. The built form envelopes establish a flexible framework capable of accommodating diverse land uses and future configurations. A green civic heart anchors the scheme, while fine-grain laneway connections and activated street edges stitch the development into the East End. Together, these strategies support the City’s population and housing affordability targets while delivering homes with exceptional amenity and strong connections to place.
