Bates Smart were appointed by the luxury retailer Emerald Group Investments to deliver one of the biggest Bang & Olufsen sensory flagship stores in the world at the Paris-end of Melbourne’s CBD.

The 390-square-metre store is situated on the ground floor at 33 Russell Street, on the corner of Russell Street and Flinders Lane and makes the next-generation retail store the fourth largest of its kind globally.

The team at Bates Smart worked with Bang & Olufsen and their global design directive to interpret and add to the global brand for the local market.

The design concept focused on expressing the beautiful heritage qualities of the interior shell of 1920’s Cavendish House –ensuring an elegant, refined environment providing a luxurious backdrop for Bang & Olufsen’s contemporary luxury brand.

Bates Smart also refined finishes and furniture, selecting products complementing the Bang & Olufsen brand, classic Danish design and the new interior of the Flagship store.
Bates Smart continues ongoing work with Emerald Group Investment, having complete their new workplace fit out and the design of the retail outlet, Kennedy in Crown, Melbourne.
