<h3>Wentworth Quarter is a new residential community in Wentworth Point, one of the most densely populated suburbs in the country.</h3>

The waterfront site, a former industrial land parcel, is the first step in a four-stage masterplan that extends from the foreshore back to Hill Road. Wentworth Quarter meets the suburb’s demand of a growing population with 200 high-quality, build-to-rent apartments and eight townhouses.
A U-shaped perimeter block is organised around a landscaped courtyard and opens out to address Homebush Bay. A 30m wide foreshore provides a new public open space, encouraging pedestrian and cycle routes along the promenade.

The built form is broken down into two L-shaped buildings, which sit atop a sleeved podium carpark. Buildings step down in height from 8-storeys to 4-storeys. This stepping reduces overshadowing to the foreshore, maximises views over Homebush Bay and delivers apartments with large, landscaped terraces. The buildings are further articulated into two volumes along Marine Parade, plus a two-storey foreshore element comprising the townhouses.
Buildings have a solid, masonry base that introduces a distinct street interface. This brickwork extends up the volumes fronting Marine Parade. Deep brick piers separate room modules from balconies, while expressed concrete horizontals provide shading. All facades perpendicular to the foreshore line are facetted, opening apartment views to the water. Vertical louvres provide privacy and protection from low-angle sun.

Along the foreshore there are eight 2-storey townhouses. They each have a street entry and two bedrooms on the lower level. Living spaces are located on the upper level to maximise water views, along with a third bedroom. A private courtyard to the north provides solar access and cross ventilation. Residents can access the carpark directly from the courtyard.
Diverse amenity spaces create opportunities for community interaction. The generous landscaped courtyard accommodates an outdoor pool, lawn and shaded alfresco dining area. A double-height space with an open stair connects the courtyard back to the main lobby via a co-working space. Additional communal amenities on the top level include a private kitchen and dining room, a residents lounge, a media room, outdoor living areas and a BBQ terrace.

The masterplan is transforming an inner-city industrial site into a vibrant precinct with high-quality, mid-rise housing.
The new community within Blocks F+I includes over 570 build-to-rent apartments, shared community facilities and a local retail centre. Kooka Walk, a 20m-wide pedestrian walkway, is the north-south artery connecting the entire precinct.

The architecture responds to local context. It weaves together interpretations of Country, industrial heritage and established built character. Buildings embrace an urban solidity. Pigmented precast concrete panels anchor a richly textured façade in an elegant, simple palette of materials. This masonry recalls the site’s history as brickworks, while perforated metal balustrades and screens reference its steelworks past.
The stepped building section provides opportunity for communal open spaces and roof terraces, and allows a diversity of housing ranging from studios, 1-,2- and 3-bed apartments and townhouses.
The angled geometry of the architecture is interpreted in finer-scaled details such as balconies and sun shading. Cuts in building forms provide direct views and links to the elevated central courtyard.
The elevated central courtyard features a bespoke water garden that enhances biodiversity and ecological value, creating an immersive bio-garden experience for residents. Internal amenities are consolidated on upper levels and include a gym and wellness spaces, private dining, workspaces and cinema rooms. Above, the rooftop on Level 8 is a contiguous landscaped space divided into three terraces along a north-south view corridor. Together, the terraces comprise an infinity pool and deck, outdoor lounge and co-working areas and alfresco dining facilities.

<h3>Wallumatta is a mixed-use project combining 348 residential apartments, 100 aged care living units, retail and hospitality spaces, a fire station and generous green spaces.</h3>
&nbsp;
Our winning design negotiates challenging site conditions and planning controls to create an architectural expression that is unique to its Rhodes context. Wallumatta embraces a distinct identity among its glassy context, opting instead for a more horizontal and grounded expression.
The form breaks down the singular massing of the planning envelope and proposes three key design moves; plinth, podium and two towers. By removing the infill element between the towers, apartments maximise natural light and view opportunities.
The towers step in plan and elevation to create a rhythmic street wall along Concord Road. Their unique architectural expression is defined by horizontal masonry bands, contrasting with the verticality of the surrounding high-rise forms.

The podium is expressed as a series of rectilinear volumes that also step along the curved boundary. These volumes provide a human scale at the street level, housing aged care neighbourhoods and independent living units.
A masonry plinth anchors the development, accommodating retail and hospitality spaces, along with a fire station at the northern corner of the site. A large garden arrival court fronts Blaxland Road at this level. The green space is open to the public and acts as an entry for both tower residents and aged care residents, encouraging social interaction and inclusivity.
Wallumatta has a robust, low carbon, long-life façade. A palette of bricks transitions in colour as it rises, exuding a residential quality and referencing the area’s industrial heritage. Passive design solutions, including deep balconies and screens, ensure the project is a climate-positive addition to Rhodes.
