Norwest Quarter: a consciously conceived community

Norwest Quarter

Consciously conceived community

Norwest Quarter is set to become one of Australia’s first urban masterplanned developments to deliver a zero carbon community, for over 2,000 residents in Sydney’s west.

Featured in the latest issue of The Commercial Project by The Local Project, Norwest Quarter is a collaboration with Mulpha International , Smart Design Studio, Terroir, Aspect Studios and Finding Infinity.

The development is designed to be a highly sustainable community with zero waste to landfill and 100% electric and renewable resources. The first stage of the project will include 196 apartments spanning across two residential towers, named Banksia and Lacebark, each consisting of rooftop solar panels.

Passive design has been an integral part of the development process, including glazing, insulation, building orientation and light-coloured materials. Apartments will consume two-thirds less energy than a typical code-complaint apartment.

Once complete, the materplanned community will span 3.8 hectares and home more than 2000 residents.
