The Metropolitan Hotel restores its former glory
Beloved Melbourne icon is back and better than ever.
The Metropolitan Hotel officially reopened its doors to many cheerful locals last month – 170 years after the historic pub was established.
The revitalised venue offers a contemporary drinking, dining and music experience over three-storeys that have been divided into a casual front bar, nightclub lounge and a rooftop space.
The interior has been divided into a casual front bar on the ground level, a nightclub lounge on the first floor, and a rooftop space on top of what was once the pub. These interconnected social spaces encourage movement between them, with the ground floor and roof deck as places city workers can go for lunch or have afterwork drinks, with the option of going to the club later on.
Located right in the heart of Melbourne’s legal precinct at the corner of William and Little Lonsdale Street, the heritage façade’s exposed red brickwork and original arched windows have been restored to their former beauty, preserving the quintessential pub’s vintage aesthetic, while adding a welcomed contemporary touch.
