Tall timber recognised in global CTBUH awards

55 Southbank Boulevard

Category Winner of CTBUH Renovation Award

Our tall timber project at 55 Southbank Boulevard has been named overall category winner of the Renovation Award by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH)

Bates Smart Director Julian Anderson and Scott Davies from Hume Partners had the honour of presenting the project as part of the CTBUH International Tall Excellence Conference.

Australia’s first cross-laminated timber (CLT) extension project and the world’s tallest mass timber vertical extension, 55 Southbank Boulevard was recognised for its innovative use of CLT to add 10 levels to an existing six-story commercial building, sequestering nearly 2,800 metric tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

A special thanks to our key collaborators Hume Partners, WSP in Australia, WSP, Duo Projects, Inhabit, Icon, Vistek Structural Engineers, KLH Massivholz and XLam.
