The new shared consultancy facilities are coordinated through a centralised reception and supported by high quality amenities and beautifully crafted waiting space for the general public.
Bates Smart’s urban design response to the brief was to create a series of highly crafted glass boxes which sit above the existing brick podium buildings. The contextual response acknowledges the highly decorative and mannered facades of the Malvern residential precinct while providing abundant natural light and fresh air through a number of lightwells and roofgardens internally. The main waiting room spaces are transformed by soft form roof lights that modify the quality of light throughout the day. Sandblasted and tinted glass sunshades provide environmental protection on the facades which simultaneously provide privacy for the interior spaces and echo the dark grey slate roofs of the surrounding context.
Bates Smart were commissioned for architectural and interior design services for the expansion of Medical Centres 2 and 3 and continue to work closely with Cabrini in an ongoing design consultancy role.
