Rob is both a design and project based architect with extensive experience in the delivery of large scale commercial and residential projects.

Joining Bates Smart in 2001 as a project architect on the Freshwater Place Residential Tower project in Melbourne, Rob was responsible for developing innovative design and services integration solutions from the early concept design phase through to tender documentation.

Relocating to Bates Smart Sydney in 2002 Rob took on the project architect role for Proximity, a residential project for Multiplex consisting of 294 apartments which was completed in 2004. He has since applied his extensive residential design expertise to a number of residential projects of various size, scale and complexity.

In the commercial sector Rob led the Collins Square project at 735 Collins Street, Melbourne, two commercial towers of 38,000m² and 40,000m² for the ATO and MMC Corporation.

Rob has gained extensive experience on hospitality projects through his work as the project and design architect for various refurbishment projects at Star City Casino, Sydney and Conrad Treasury Casino, Brisbane.

Recently Rob has been the project leader for UNSW’s Kensington Colleges – a redevelopment of the three existing Kensington Colleges with an addition of two new buildings, providing 920 beds, and university teaching spaces. This project received a Residential Architecture Multiple Housing Architecture Award at the 2014 NSW AIA Awards.
