Spice Temple, Sydney
CBD, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia
Spice Temple is tucked away in the basement of the heritage-listed Art Deco City Mutual Building in Sydney’s CBD and is entered via a discreet doorway.
The dining room is warm and dramatically lit, and whilst there is little in the way of overt reference to Asia, the space is intimate, relaxed and sexy, with subtle influences of the exotic street hawker food markets in China.
The menu at Spice Temple pays homage to the history of the Sichuan provinces, and the contrasting tastes and textures enjoyed in Asian cuisine. The restaurant is designed to complement this philosophy with a play on textures, light and shade and unexpected vistas through the space.
