The Regency Club lounge on level 11 of the Hyatt Regency Sydney elegantly integrates the luxurious aesthetic of the 1930s ocean liner with the practical requirements a executive hotel lounge—producing a stunning and flexible space that celebrates the views afforded by its harbourside setting.
Regency Club exudes timeless luxury, with the design drawing on a ‘glamour of travel’ perspective to create a series of crafted and highly detailed ‘cabin’ spaces.
The lounge seats up to 120 hotel guests for breakfast and pre-dinner drinks and canapés, and is operational for 15 hours a day.
Designed to be both highly functional as well as beautiful, the 38m long floorplate is visually defined into a series of five ‘cabins’ capable of separate use. Each reflects a shift in hospitality focus, progressing in degrees of social interaction from highly communal through to private dining/meeting.
The vintage ocean liner aesthetic is reinforced throughout in walnut timber flooring and furniture, New York marble, finishes of velvet, smoked glass, slub silk wall covering and tan leather.
A restrained colour palette of ocean blue and silver is used exclusively on furniture and fittings, and extends to the bespoke carpet with a pattern abstracted from portal design.
In parallel with the upstairs Zephyr sky bar—designed simultaneously—the ‘upper deck’ and ‘lower deck’ concept has been conceived and played out exquisitely in both form and materiality.
