Crown Metropol - Interiors
Southbank, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
Following development the new International Convention Centre on Southbank, the premium 5 star Crown Metropol is ideally placed to capitalise on the corresponding business, convention and leisure markets. It both complements and capstones the two existing Crown Hotel offerings.
The site is an entry point to Melbourne and the sinuous form of the tower and its activated podium creates a striking and highly memorable gateway to the CBD.
By extending the pedestrian-friendly environments that already encircle the Crown Entertainment Centre, the urban design component creates a much needed link to the adjacent South Melbourne retail precinct and riverfront promenade. The main podium level contains a major retail offering, which along with restaurants maze and maze Grill by Gordon Ramsay enlivens the Clarendon Street edge and identifies the hotel as a major leisure destination.
The hotel offers 658 guest rooms including 12 dedicated spa rooms, 32 suites and one apartment. The spacious rooms feature an abundance of natural light by day and intimate atmosphere by night.
The day spa and pool facilities are located on Level 27 and take advantage of breathtaking city views. A 25m lap pool with infinity edge and hot plunge pool takes centre stage in the pool area.
The top floor of the hotel, Level 28 is occupied by the club lounge facility, which includes an intimate and atmospheric cocktail bar with screened views over the pool and an external terrace showcasing the Melbourne skyline.
The hotel also features art by renowned artists from Australia, New Zealand, China and Korea.
All three Crown Hotel tower forms share a similar language and related branding, but this building is the most arresting and dynamic.
