Sydney 2070 / CTBUH Conference

Today is World Cities Day, and Bates Smart Director Philip Vivian will be presenting 'Sydney 2070' at the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat 50th anniversary conference in Chicago.

Sydney 2070 is a series of visions to shift Sydney from a disparate monocentric city reliant on the car and transform it into a fluid, interconnected network of walkable precincts anchored by rapid transport nodes.

The theme of the CTBUH conference '50 Forward / 50 Back' reflects on both the skyscraper typology and urban development while considering the evolutions that must take place to accommodate a dynamic and uncertain global future.
