Phase 1 of our masterplan for Newmarket Randwick was recently selected as a finalist project in the Randwick City Architecture and Urban Design Awards. The eastern precinct is the first completed stage of the wider masterplan development, and is a collaboration between CBUS Property, Smart Design Studio, Arcadia Landscape Architecture and OCP Architects.
The project unites new and retained heritage buildings on the former Inglis Stables site, a part of Randwick with an incredibly rich history in thoroughbred racing. The conservation framework preserves and celebrates Newmarket House, the original Sales Ring with its famous Moreton Bay fig tree, the state heritage listed Big Stable and the site’s mature landscape. The new residential neighbourhood offers diverse and high quality housing and a dining and retail precinct that ties directly into the new park and playground – the heart of the masterplan.
We wouldn’t be able to build a genuine community without a collaborative design process. The result is a bustling new heart in Randwick that brings together past and present through cohesive masterplan, architecture and landscape designs.
Newmarket Randwick was shortlisted for Best Urban Project, Best Conservation Project and Best Apartment.
