Constitution Place was the recipient of a trio of awards – the Sir John Overall Award for Urban Design, the John Andrews Award for Commercial Architecture, and the Award for Interior Architecture at the ACT Architecture Awards 2022.
Inspired by the Griffin Plan for Canberra, Constitution Place is a masterful contribution to the public life and urbanity of Civic. Transforming Canberra and serving as home to the ACT Government, this development incorporates a five-storey office building and a 12-storey mixed-use tower into the heart of Canberra.
The commercial, entertainment and service opportunities existing within this balance of buildings and connected street level amenity create a vibrant, socially sustainable and enduring urban precinct. The theme of interior spatial drama exemplifies a deft and sensitive design vision, while urban design gestures are grounded in a contemporary reading of the city’s context.
